Mr. Fellens' World History 1st Semester Notebook Activities

The following are in class activities that need to be kept in your notebook / folder.  You will get points at the end of the semester for the activities you have finished as part of your semester notebook check. 

  1-On your own paper take notes over the Hinduism powerpoint.  Title your paper "Hinduism Notes". 

2- We watched the video "Let Her Die" and answered questions attached below (an answer key is also provided).  The paragraph summary was turned in for assessment points! 

3-  On your own paper take notes over the Buddhism powerpoint.  Title your notes "Buddhism" 

4-  On your own paper compare and contrast Hinduism & Buddhism by looking at your notes on the two religions. With a partner create a T-Chart of things that are similar & things that are different.  As a class we then created a "Double Bubble" Thinking Map on the back of your T-Chart.  The Class Map is attached below.

 6-On your own paper, take notes over the Ancient Greece powerpoint.  Title your notes "Ancient Greece".  

7-  As students watched the History Channel video "The Last Stand of the 300" (you can watch it below )they answered the question sheet that went along with it.  A blank set of questions and the answer key is attached below.

9-  On your own paper, take notes over the power point.  Title your notes "Decline of Greece".

10- Notes: On your own paper, take notes over the Ancient Rome powerpoint. Title your notes "The Roman Republic".

11-  Roman Advancements & The Colosseum Activity:  Students explained why each of the following advancements were important to Rome's development: 1)sewers  2) roads  3) concrete  4) aqueducts  5) the arch (watch part 2 & part 3 of Rome: Engineering an Empire.  Students then wrote 10 SPECIFIC details about the building of the Colosseum and what it was used for by the Romans (watch "Engineering an Empire: Rome Vespasian" below) . 

12- Notes: Rise & Fall of the Roman Empire 

13-  The Fall of Rome-  Students filled in a Multi-Flow Map of the Causes of the Fall of Rome.  On the back of this paper, students took notes titled "Roman Reaction To Christianity".

15-  On your own paper, take notes over the powerpoint below.  Title your notes "Judaism". 

16-  On your own paper, take notes over the powerpoint below.  Title your notes "Christianity". 

Tuesday, November 16, 2010: Islam Video- Students answered the question sheet as they watched. A blank question sheet and answer key is attached below.

Friday 12/3/10: Notes- Protestant Reformation  Take notes on your own paper over the details in the powerpoint below. 

Monday 12/6/10: Age of Discovery Multi-Flow Map  Use the information in the powerpoint to fill in the Multi-Flow Map on the first slide. 

Monday 12/6/10: Scientific Revolution & Age of Enlightenment Chart  Use the infromation in the powerpoint to fill in the chart on the first slide. 

Tuesday, December 7, 2010:  Answer questions while watching a video on the French Revolution. Below is the blank questions & the Answer Key.
